What is a Therapy Dog?
Therapy animals are best known for providing emotional support and improving the mental well-being of humans. They can help in endless ways, from visiting in nursing homes, helping people with mental and physical therapy and help with learning disabilities.
At Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic we hear all the time how pets enrich the lives of their owners. We see on a daily basis the bond that our wonderful clients have with their pets, from the first puppy appointment to the last painful goodbye we feel honored to be a part of this bond. They are a source of stress relief, a provider of comfort, entertainment and a loyal companion.
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to feel the bond with pets, especially those who would benefit from it the most, those who are in nursing homes, hospitals, elderly care, and hospices.
Sprocket: Sprocket is an English Golden Retriever who is currently being trained by the staff at Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic to become a therapy dog. During the day you can find him at the clinic welcoming people and their pets and at night he can be found relaxing at Dr. Fasse’s home.
Mission: The mission of Healthy Paws is to provide exceptional care to every client and every patient; every time. We want to expand even further and reach those people in the surrounding community who can benefit from a relationship with a dog. Through Sprocket, we can bring new light to those suffering from medical or psychological disabilities, those going through hard times, elderly, children, and every life-stage in between.
Goal: We are looking to work with local hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, schools and other organizations that we feel will benefit from Sprocket. We have a list of upcoming therapy events which we will be attending and are always welcoming new ideas and organizations.
